Dynamics of Quantum matter

We explore non-equilibrium many-body dynamics in quantum systems that experience symmetry-breaking, topological, or jamming transitions. These systems encompass superconductors, charge-density wave, and magnetic materials.

Experimental Soft Matter Physics

The research is conducted within the “Light and Matter” research program. The interaction of light with matter is one of the most important fields of physics and optical processes are indispensable in many branches of modern industry.

Seminar: Visualizing heterogeneity and phase competition in photo-induced phase transitions in quantum materials

July 9, 2024, 14:00, F7 Seminar Room
Speaker: Naman Agarwal, Aarhus University

In this talk, I would discuss how one can utilize the soft X-ray coherent diffractive imaging to get quantitative nanoscale spectroscopic information about the transient chemical states and heterogeneity of photoexcited insulator-to-metal phase transition in vanadium oxide (VO2) thin films. Further, as a stepping stone toward quantitative 3D hard X-ray Bragg imaging of strain field, I would discuss the recent results obtained from ultrafast hard X-ray Bragg diffraction measurements of phase competition in photoexcited strain-engineered epitaxial thin films of VO2.
