Dynamics of Quantum matter

We explore non-equilibrium many-body dynamics in quantum systems that experience symmetry-breaking, topological, or jamming transitions. These systems encompass superconductors, charge-density wave, and magnetic materials.

Experimental Soft Matter Physics

The research is conducted within the “Light and Matter” research program. The interaction of light with matter is one of the most important fields of physics and optical processes are indispensable in many branches of modern industry.

34th Jožef Stefan Days

March 30, 2026

At the Jožef Stefan Institute, the traditional 34th Jožef Stefan Days were once again successfully held, taking place from 23 March to 28 March.

The highlight of the week-long program was the Open Day, held on Saturday, 28 March, which offered visitors a unique opportunity to gain insight into the Institute’s research activities and explore its laboratories. Visitors were introduced to a wide range of scientific projects and achievements across different departments.

Our department once again participated with the well-established and highly engaging demonstration of a superconducting train, which presents the principles of superconductivity in an accessible and visually striking way. The experiment continues to be one of the most attractive demonstrations, drawing strong interest from both younger audiences and the general public.

The Jožef Stefan Days remain an important bridge between science and society, inspiring curiosity and encouraging future generations to pursue research and innovation.
